Homecoming Week 2015 was one for the books, all thanks to a great Court, student-wide support, and a fun week of activities. Mrs. Bogart, student government advisor, organized the fun filled week that involved theme days, entertainment, and even alumni support. Mrs. Bogart started organizing the Homecoming festivities in 2011-2012 when our school’s Homecoming was losing its tradition and popularity amongst students. She says, “There HAS to be a Homecoming” and intends to give every senior class the Homecoming that they deserve.
This year’s Homecoming Court consisted of a very diverse, involved group of senior students. The guys were represented by Nicholas B, Nick D, Changa H, Jonathan J.N, and this year’s King Justin V. On the girls side, Danielle N, Cami G, Shannon C, Madi K, and Victoria G were all in the running for queen, but ultimately Victoria took the crown. Over the course of the week, the court had to sing the alma mater on the announcements, wear their sashes all day, and complete a test on school knowledge and spirit. For the rest of the students, Homecoming week included many different theme days full of excitement. On Monday, students participated in Twin Day or “Which Witch is Which?” and on Tuesday students took part in Wacky Day. Wednesday brought out loads of school spirit as it was Color Day. Students in each grade wore their grade’s color to see which grade could flood the halls in their color. Thursday was King and Queen Day, students were able to purchase a crown and wear it during the day. Homecoming Week came to a close with Tye-Dye Shirt/Pink day to light up the school with color. At the football game Friday night, students wore their Tye-Dye shirts as well. It was a truly great Homecoming week in which students were able to show their school spirit each day.
