Bushkill Elementary School is located on the East Stroudsburg North Campus in Lehman Township, Pike
County of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The school was built in 1998 and houses nearly 500 students. Although
it is located in an area that is considered rural, the school has many characteristics of a suburban school and
much of its population has an urban flavor. Our school mission statement indicates, "Bushkill Elementary School,
a culturally diverse, rapidly growing, united community." and reflects the diversity of our school community.
Students come from various ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic groups.
Bushkill Elementary School embraces a standards-based approach to learning, providing clear expectations and
benchmarks for achievement in the core curricular areas. There is a strong emphasis in
writing-across-the-curriculum to engage all students in the learning process. Standards are posted in every
classroom, along with examples of student work that meet those standards. The students display a sincere
respect for one another, as well as for their teachers.
We are a school with a strong culture for learning and are dedicated to providing multiple opportunities for
our students and school community to become successful learners in and out of the classroom. Bushkill
Elementary School mutually benefits with partnerships with home and other members of the community
to provide resources, experiences, and interactions for students and staff. We are truly a "Community School."
