The Builders Club at John T. Lambert Intermediate School is a service oriented club involving 27- 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.  The Builders Club is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and is the bridge between K-Kids at the elementary level and the Key Club at the high school level. Mrs. Mercy Shemansky is the advisor of the JTL Builders Club.

The JTL Builders Club has been extremely active during the 2013-2014 school year by raising money for local organizations, hosting speakers during meetings, assisting the Kiwanis Club and doing school spirit campaigns within JTL.

In October, the students raised money, along with the JTL faculty and students, for Melon's Gift. The JTL Builders Club hosted speaker, Beth Moses, a local breast cancer survivor and the founder of Melon's Gift. The JTL Builders Club presented Beth Moses with a check for $700, which will go towards helping people that are battling cancer in our local community.

The JTL Builders Club helped decorate and distribute boxes for each homeroom in the John T. Lambert Intermediate School for the annual school-wide food drive, which benefits the East Stroudsburg Salvation Army Food Pantry. This was a very successful school-wide event resulting in over 4,000 items collected and donated.

The club also demonstrated school spirit this Fall by creating signs and posters for all of the JTL Fall sports teams.  The members hung signs for each of the final games as a way to show their school spirit!

The JTL Builders Club members volunteered their time and energy during the annual Kiwanis Pancake Day on Saturday November 9th, at the East Stroudsburg High School-South. Students helped clear tables, wash dishes, hand out balloons and sold handmade ornaments and magnets during the event. They also had the opportunity to meet with local Kiwanis members and see the other Kiwanis-affiliated student clubs within their own school district, as well as other school districts.

The JTL Builders Club has hosted representatives from local service agencies to speak with members during our November meetings. On November 12th, the club hosted Gail Toscano of the Red Cross. She spoke to members about the important services the Red Cross provides to our community, as well as the importance of disaster preparedness. Students received valuable information about how to put together a disaster preparation kit for their family, developing evacuation plans in case of fires or other emergencies and having a meeting place in the case of separation.  On November 19th, the JTL Builders Club hosted Art Piancone of The Pocono Alliance. Members learned about the "Bridges Out of Poverty" program and voted on this organization as our December focus.  Members of the JTL Builders Club will be kicking off the campaign, "Give Poverty the Boot!" to help raise funds for this community effort during the month of December.
